Bleeder screw for rear brakes - where to buy in QLD?
«
on:
February 06, 2014, 04:16:15 PM »
First up, I'm an idiot. Didn't tighten the bleed screw after replacing the brakes, and in the course of a short ride, it fell out.
I've got the Brembo part number (see
this thread
) but now I need to find a place that sells the things.
Can anyone suggest a place in QLD that might have 'em, or be able to get 'em?
Failing that, I guess I'll have to order one in. Recommendations for that would also be awesome. =)

your nearest dealer should have them in stock, now, if like me you're fussy about which dealer gets your cash (given that some think it's their right to empty your wallet at their whim) i can highly recommend gold coast ducati, stop in, there's more than one reason why.
if you get my meaning....

I talked to the guys at Speedys, they said no one ever loses these, and they'd never have them in stock. Called a few other places, no one could even suggest a timeframe to order such an obscure part. It's six hundred yen in Japan, I might just get one shipped over.
Or, you know, hit the gold coast because apparently it's worth it. Or so I'm reliably informed. =D

Have you tried a brake specialist as you may find they are a standard fitting?

Fark and I was just at the factory yesterday!
Try podium racing on eBay they have titanium bleed nipples about $11.00.
Ducati use the 10mm nipples on the rear brake. There post is usualy quick, buy the full set while your at it, makes the post worth while?
Try pro bolt they have titanium nipples as well, but they can take forever, even though they say pro bolt Australia, they still post from the UK.

That'd be quite the conversation starter.
"Hi, I'm Rob, and I've got titanium nipples."

Yeah, and was basically told there's no way to match the part without having the old one to compare. No one can match it based on the Brembo part number, and one shop even told me that despite having Brembo on their website, they don't do any kind of Brembo brakes.
Basically, a whole lot of people blowing me off and not many people wanting to help. It's been pretty frustrating.
Worth it though for those titanium nipples, yowr.

brembo use a fine thread, yours should be 10x1.25 which isn't run of the mill stuff at your local brake shop unfortunately.
Brembos are used on more than just ducati though, you can try anyone that sells guzzi for example. don't know much else to suggest but i have bought replacement nipples from gold coast before and they have loads of different ones in stock.
I'd pull the calliper off, you have to bleed it anyway, and take it with you, check your pads while you have it off too

i dont care if you have been a mechanic for 10 years doing something for a long time does not make you good at it, take my gf for an example shes been walking for 28 years and still manages to fall over all the time.

Yeah J5, I've been told they're the same. I just thought if it was easy to find the right one without doing the swap, I'd only have to bleed one brake instead of both.

NFG it's a well known fact that the Ducati spare parts book was printed from the recycled timber pulp of a money tree........

Thanks for the tips guys. Ordered one up from GC Ducati, installed it, bled it, and it's all good now. Rode it home for the first time in months and my neighbor comes out to tell me how happy he is to hear the sound of it again. Not sure everyone else is as happy as he is, but if I have to listen to their screaming kids they can listen to my bike from time to time. ^_^

Well done NFG.
And that sounds like a fair trade with the neighbours.
