Isn't this why they installed the power boost system? It's a separate engine (electric) to reduce the stress on the engine and make it more reliable. I remember 2 years ago in MotoGP, the person leading into the first corner would simply win the race. MM changed that last year and hopefully will continue this year. At least in F1 the pitstops do act as an equalizer.

A separate motor that runs off of battery power recovered from the braking and turbo systems. I don't know if they implemented it for increased reliability, or to be more "green" (which is stupid). They've already admitted these motors are the most expensive ever, and 2 front runners (Vettel & Hamilton) both retired from race 1 in the first 2 laps due to reliability issues.

MM has definitely made GP more exciting. I don't think I fell asleep during a race at all last season!  laughingdp

He's made MGP worth watching again and Qatar last week was a great way to start the season.

I know that Red Bull has had a ton of issues over the preseason coming to terms with the new rules.

At least in MotoGP if a rider is in striking distance near race end then they can go for the position. In F1 it seems most of the time they have to just sit there, due to lack of fuel, worn tires, engine wear concerns, etc. Lame.

Seems like you could have the same issues in MotoGP or do you mean the odds of that happening increase in F1?  Huh?

It happens every race. Teams coming on the radio throughout the race and telling the driver at what pace to drive. I know it's needed due to the complexities of F1 machinery and the race distance...but it would be nice if they just raced.

In GP the riders just race. They make take it a hair easier in the middle 1/3 of the race which is natural, but they're always racing for position.

The boards in MotoGP are used to not only let the riders know their competitors position and times, but the engine mapping.

OK, but the point is they still race. It isn't uncommon at all for F1 teams to tell their drivers not to attack, or to let someone pass. I still think F1 is more about stragtegy than wheel to wheel racing...the opposite of MotoGP.

Pretty cool, but still, F1 is one order of magnitude less fun than MotoGP  coffee
