I dropped a tooth on the front sprocket of my 2000 900 ie and also upgraded to a 525 chain.  Cheapest performance upgrade ever.  Acceleration is much better in every gear.  Now 6th is actually used and I am pulling just over 5000 at around 75 MPH (83ish indicated: based on roughly 8-10% error on the high side).

Rode the Monster through Death Valley this past weekend and averaged 47 MPG on two tank-fulls where I kept close track. Based on the miles my wife's Yamaha FZ-6 indicated.  No worse than before so I am stoked about that.

It really is the cheapest and most dramatic mod you can do to any Monster, except maybe the 600s.
