OK, I know Top Gear is a car show (a freaking AWESOME one, though [thumbsup]) but there's a great message about fuel economy right near the end of the video.

Oh, and the BMW M3 sedan?  I sooooooo WANT!!!!! 8)

I love that show.

And I am not surprised the slightest bit about the results.

well...of course not! it's top gear!  [laugh]

that doesn't change the fact that people are going to buy a prius and drive it 85-90....because thats what people do.

Clarkson may be, but James May has a collection of antique bikes, and a new(ish) Triumph to boot.   [thumbsup]

Cool Video.  I just love that show. [thumbsup]

You can have the Lambo, benz, and ferrari.  I'll take that red R8 with the black side blades anyday.  Those cars are just amazingly beautiful.

Yes they are!  Saw one the other week while out on a motorcycle ride.  I had to pull over and adjust myself...

One of my favorite shows.  Too bad i have only found it on BBC-A on Mondays and typically they have a lot of repeats.  I love the episode they race the motor homes  [laugh].

Classic episode.

I particularly like the one where they go caravaning...and set their caravan on fire, along with the neighbor's tent!  [laugh]

On a side note...

I cant believe the Smart car gets such shitty gas Mileage.

For a car that size and weight I would expect at least 60 mpg... What is this nonsense with 40mpg. There are full size cars that get 40mpg.

In Engalnd they test much higher:

46.3 urban
70.6 highway
60.1 combined

Obviously these are bigger Imperial gallons, 70.6 equals about 60 mpg, US.

In some markets there are Smart diesels capable of 80 mpg.

I have a buddy who religiously subscribes to the concept of hypermiling.  He drives slower than ANYONE I've ever seen before (I was with him once where I didn't think he was goign to make it to the top of a hill, he was goign so slow), but in his defense he gets 28 city in a 200x Chrysler 300m.  I suppose I could probably push 50mpg on the Monster if I tried, but who among us can keep the throttle that far under wraps?  They should do a test with a TDI running on refined restaurant grease.  I think it ends up being something like 3 or 4 bucks per hundred miles.

That WAS a fun read!!!

Most of the comments were on the money, though - it's about HOW you drive not WHAT you drive in a lot of ways.
