I'm after expert opinions on my tyre wear.

I am running Conti road attack 2's. They are a few thousand km old. Can't recall the specific km on them.

Anyway, I'm planning a longer ride over Easter, about 1000km all up. The front seems fine. It's the middle of the rear that concerns me. I can start to see some vertical banding. I'm wondering if it's going to last the trip as I have time to replace it beforehand. The last thing I want is to try to get a new tyre on the trip.

I will try to post a photo but it's difficult to capture properly.

Any thoughts?

Here's the best photo I could manage. You can see the stripes in the middle.

Often wrong. Never in doubt.

Yup.  That's the steel banding making itself apparent just under the surface.

It'll look like this pretty soon...

I only got 5500km out of a set of Conti Road attack 2 before the wire started showing.  Cry  Nice tyre but no good on Alpine roads.

I just checked my notes 10,000 K's out of my rear Conti SA2  waytogo
Mostly local NSW roads at 36 psi

The last one I only got 6-7 K due to riding it on the Alpine roads (more abrasive than PAUL's humor )
Your tyre is rooted mate.
I am in the same boat planning a little getaway early next month going to throw a used track tyre on for the
trip it has lots left in the middle , not much left on the edge  Grin

How bloody hard is it to get a tyre and get it fitted in Tas?

No one has the one I want in stock and even if they get it in next few days, some will take until the end of the month to fit it. One bloody tyre!

The best I can hope for is last thing Thursday or Easter Tues. lucky my trip isn't until 24th.
