Barking forks

Just had my forks serviced: new fluid and seals only; no new bushings.  Now they "barks/honks/squeaks" when they compress, kinda like a rusty gate opening.  Performance is fine and other than the noise nothing seems wrong.

Any idea what this is and if it should be fixed or ignored?

I'll bet the noise is your speedo cable rubbing on the guide.

Wasn't the cable.

I notice that it doesn't bark/squeak when I start my ride, but usually after a few miles it starts and gets noisier as I ride.

Could it be something with how the seal(s) is(are) seated?

This...

I learned a long time ago to go back to the last thing you tried to fix when a problem arises. ;D
