i just picked up an 07 S4RS with 6680 miles. it's all stock with the exception of bar end mirrors. i have some questions for the gurus if you don't mind a potential long read.
- previous owner had the tank replaced under warranty. i lifted the tank up today and it feels and seems like its plastic. i thought s4rs models had metal tanks?
- under the tank, i found a hose not connected to anything. it wasn't plugged or capped, just venting to atmosphere. i traced the hose back to the left side of the bike to the top of the charcoal canister (next to the horn on the bottom). is this normal?
- there are 2 hoses connected to the tank from the back, by the pivot point, one short hose and one long hose that reaches the clutch. they are plugged into the tank but are not plugged into anything else on the other end. thats 3 hoses now that are open ended.
- when rolling to stop, my front brakes squeak like crazy. is this a normal thing?
- from a dead stop about to begin moving, if i rev high enough and release the clutch slow enough, the front end makes a weird shuttering-like sound. it sounds kinda spongey. it's not a violent shuttering but the sound it makes is very noticeable and the shuttering is more like a slight vibration. now that i think about it, it sounds like when your AC belt in your car starts to squeak, just not as high pitched. any ideas about this?
- in a slow roll with the clutch pressed and releasing slowly, if i apply throttle very slowly, i can feel a 'click' through my throttle grip, when you would expect it to accelerate. after the very noticeable click, acceleration begins as usual.
- i've been seeing a lot of black zip ties and i wonder if this is from factory? the excess is all cut but i've been wondering if in 2007 they actually used all these zip ties from factory or is something fishy going on.
thank you for making it this far. lastly, i want to ask if there is anything you guys think i should do or look over to make sure this bike is legit and not a trashed bike that got put back together. i really appreciate any help!
