badass.
waytogo

sounds a lot different w/ the road racing exhaust.

Curious, why do you call it a M944SS (the SS part?)  Call it whatever ya want, its yours. Least its not a woman's name  Smiley

Glad it worked out w/ Chris Birkle/ Hippie @ Racing Sport Services (RSS) in Braselton, Ga. His work rocks.

No....I'm close tho. Spent the last 2 days scrambling around having a wheel spacer made. Also just closed on a new house and got the keys a week ago...I had a pretty long "honey do list" that she thinks I've been working on instead of the bike (lol) but that's caught up to me so I've had to work long days on the house. It's coming...hours/days now.

The most important part of the build has arrived.

Im going to paint the intakes matte black and have the stacks anodized either black or red. Don't wanna coat em, just seems like a bad idea to change the shape given how much time and money went into engineering these with a flow bench and whatnot. I'm not even sure if an acid bath to remove the orange would result in etching = undesirable effects.

I've forgotten, what's your air situation again? Air box? Pods?

Im going to have those v stacks machined down to about 90mm (the flanges) and fit some tapered pod filters. They're over 100 mm and don't quite fit right now.

Something like this is kinda intriguing too, with a dual flange. Would almost be like a 4 sided open air box..

I'd considered getting one out of a summit racing catalog that was a dual one but had the taper like the first one. Decided the airbox must be like that for a reason so decided to buy a guitar instead of all that stuff.

Lol, but you see the obvious inconsistencies with that logic! But you are correct I think...airbox plus v stacks is almost certainly the best option at least for the carby bikes. Koko pointed out something tho; all of the aftermarket induction kits like Beast, MW etc use tapered filters, as does this from Cosentino. Maybe with their flow benches they've determined this calms and funnels the turbulent air most effectively. In my case I need to do something custom because they just won't fit otherwise. I also want to achieve a personal goal of getting pods to work and excel on a carbed Monster. Hopefully these stacks are the ticket.
