I know there was talk about aftermarket switches but all the truly nice ones were BIG $$$, and none of em seemed particularly functional. I actually dig how this bike is a mix of restoration/custom build so I got all my NOS switches now, they even have a bit of that fresh, rubbery/plasticky "new bike smell"...would be cool if my bike had that smell....

I have a bit of an OCD issue so I had to pick up new OE relays cuz the auto parts store ones don't fit the rubber holder quite right. The "special screw" that acts as a pivot/holder for the oil cooler was impossible to find in stainless, it is one of the truly "special" screws...usually they are some flavor of shoulder bolt, well nut etc. So I got that too.

It's odd how packages of little bits like this arriving in the mail tickle me the most. The look on my girls face as I set everything up to photograph it while stopping to smell some of the parts here and there was pretty amusing.  laughingdp

Rudemouthsky: Smell that? You smell that?
DMF: What?
Rudemouthsky: NewOldStock, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
[kneels]
Rudemouthsky: I love the smell of NOS in the morning. You know, one time we trawled eBay, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink old part. The smell, you know that fresh plastic smell, the whole bike. Smelled like....
[sniffing, pondering]
Rudemouthsky: victory. Someday this 944SS mod's gonna end...

It's almost tax season again, time for me to go on the road almost full time so I'm taking a long break from the board now to focus on making lots of $$$$. If anyone would like to stay in touch:

All the parts are still just that...a pile of parts. I won't have the engine in my hot little hands for another month or so when I can get to Atlanta. But I'll leave what is possibly the sexist thing I have ever seen in my life...IMA billet. Arrived today Smiley (and a new gas cap base for the Ducabike gas cap I had a change of heart about selling. )

The clip ons just have me speechless. Works of art, plain and simple.
