Was nice at the old place to be able to bounce between boards using a left-hand navigation bar, rather than backing out via the HOME button.

Yeah, I agree.  I have been using the root --> thread links just below the home, forum, help, search, etc nav buttons. 

It would be really handy to have the left nav back.
