My name is Les & my current ride is a 68 Monster 750 with just 8000 klm's.  I have many years of riding under my backside approximately 45. During that time I have owned about 25 bikes, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, British to name a few. This is my second Monster, the first a 600 Dark was my ride to work bike & it filled every facet of this job.  The best thing was leaving the underground car park at work where my Remus pipes would set off many car alarms, a nice end to the day.  I am now retired & so am fortunate enough to be able to ride whenever I choose, the mountains behind me are a source of some lovely twisting undulating backroads where I can enjoy the Monsters torque.  I joined the Forum to read stories, see others bikes & ideas & perhaps get help from time to time.

Welcome Les.

It's a great international forum and very helpful community here. The forum has it's share of Aussies too. The various sections have years of material going back which can be accessed via the search function. Posting questions gets good info here.

Cheers

G'day Needle99 & Koko64, yep we probably do the same rides, just back from one this morning up through Tamborine & down to Canungra for a coffee.  And to you Koko your right, the weather here this morning was magic, just cool enough to keep the visor down, I guess it's on with the bar warmers down south ha ha.

Lucky buggers.

You have to buy twice as much gear (and clothes) down here.  I have four jackets, a pair of Kevlar jeans, winter pants and four pairs of gloves (not counting race gear). I have summer and winter boots too. Full vented mesh jacket for the very hot summers, two types of winter jacket, (cold and freeze your balls off weather) and one autumn/spring type jacket.

Bring on global warming I say. Grin

Not sure whats the name of the cafe, the first one coming from Yatla end.

Yep it's 6.30 am here, 16deg & I'm getting ready for a 7.30 start for  the Springbrook circle.  Putting on the only jacket that still fits me, my old Arlen Ness, put on too much weight to fit into my good gear (Dianese) Kevlar pants & ready to go.  Been buying a few bits to personalise the monster, it came with twin headlights which I'm still not sure about but I bought a red 900 bikini fairing & pillion cover which is silver (American import, I don't think silver was an option here ?) so have to respray & off to AJ Plastics in Brisbane tomorrow to buy the screen.  Have also ordered a Ventura sports rack for camera & odds & ends. It came with a 900 long carbon belly pan but doesn't look quite right so I taken off temporarily.  Ok guys enjoy your day & keep away from the white linemarking.

Yep I know the feeling.  I spent 8 years in Hobart great roads although you can never rely on them being completely dry & the odd damp corner makes life interesting.  I haven't worn my leathers since arriving here although that's not entirely because of the weather but mainly because of the growing girth  Cry
