i recently took my rims off to have them powdercoated...they're off my 96 900 Supersport SP, but they are not the OEM wheels, as far as i know (they were white and had marchesini badges on them).  i had just assumed they were 5.5" wide, as the manual called for, but after holding up a tape measure as shown in the pic, they would seem to be 6".  or is the measurement taken at different points?

thanks!

That is in fact a 6" rim.

dayum...  time to slap on those 190s!  not really.

so, i'm guessing 170's are probably not going to work so well on a 6" rim yeah?  as it is, a 180/55 doesn't have a whole lot of "angle" on the sidewall...if that makes sense...it's closer to: |  than:  \  or  /

so I am guessing you did not write the 72.70.6.00" Wink

yes that is  6.00" rim and you would be best keeping tires at 180 or 190. If you do run a 190 you may have to shave your left side a bit or the chain might do it for you.

yeah, the chain is already somewhat close with the 180/55... i don't think i'll be trying out 190 any time soon.  thanks for the info   waytogo
