clutch slippage

Hey guys, I've run into a problem and was hoping someone might be able to guide me in the right direction.  I've got a 2010 696 abs, not much mileage.  My clutch started feeling like it was slipping after a few hours run.  Eventually, it would barely even engage.  I was doing some trouble shooting today and opened the slave cylinder to check the push rod.  When I took the rod out to clean, there was quite a bit of oil coming out behind it, and the rod itself had a lot of oil on it as well.  What could be causing this?  After cleaning it and putting it back in, the clutch will not engage at all.

Any help would be appreciated!

Oil on the pushrod is normal for a 696.

When you say 'not engaged', you mean it's slipping, not transmitting power to the wheel?

Have you perhaps adjusted the clutch lever or installed an aftermarket lever?

Did you bleed the master and slave cylinder? This fixes a lot of issues. Like speeddog wrote, some brands of adjustable levers need adjustment of the push rods and are not just an easy swap in as some brands.
I had a 09' 696 and that late engaging clutch is difficult to master, I remember reading of some new riders burning there clutches out early......

thanks for the replies!  I cleaned the push rod and slave a bit and adjusted my crg levers, seems to be working ok now.  I def. need to bleed the lines, but have to order some tools first..
