New Zealand is not the mecca of consumerism that America is, and as I debate a move back to the US, I find that I am shopping already!

Eames Chair...

I want one.

Edit: I love the image of the woman sitting on the ottoman polishing his shoes while he reads the paper. How ridiculous!

Those chairs are really comfy.
One day...

I have an blue fabric '70s Eames executive chair if that counts for anything.

I've always like the Corbusier lounge chair too.

Nice... I like those loungers too. I might get a brown cow one...   ;D

Hard to go past the Barcelona.

I have an original Eames RAR rocker next to my McDowell & Craig tanker desk (single pedestal) in my bedroom.  I love mid-century modern (well, some of it at least).

I sure would love one of those but I want an aerons chair and marhmallow couch slightly more (perhaps the couch is a tie because I think the novelty would wear off quick--but that's kinda why I want it)

The concourse at Gerald Ford International airport is filled with HM molded plywood chairs.  I thought they were like $200-$250 each.  wasn't even close almost 500 bucks per-- and there's prolly a couple hundred of them in there.

strangely, I never find herman miller here in MI-- just steelcase knockoffs and sauder mdf junk

I wonder if they gave them a substantial discount on them (or maybe even loaned them to them for free) as an advertising effort.

Architects and design professionals often get discounts (sometimes substantial) on furniture. I haven't taken much advantage of this discount yet. But it's got me thinking...

I have two of them in my den. I love them, then again so does everyone else that sits in them.  They are by far the most comfy chairs in the house.

Classic design but tragically not all that comfortable to sit in.

I'm a big fan of the Ny chair.  Had one for a few years and thought it was super comfortable before one of my roommates jumped on it.

A buddy of mine just found an original Eames at a rummage sale for ten bucks.  It's ridiculous where they turn up.  This model is a bit too small for me (at 6'3" it digs into the wrong part of my back) but we had a bunch of similar Herman Millers at school that my advisor used to bring out for alumni days and such.  +1 on Le Corbusier.  Beats the hell out of Karim Rashid and all the other tripe getting produced now days.  I met the guy at a conference and he's by far one of the most narcissistic and overall douchey people I've ever met.  I kinda liked his work in years past, but after meeting him I kinda throw up in my mouth a little when I see it now.

He does the bottle/packaging for Method soap as well.  I've stopped buying it out of principal.
