Hypermotard 1100. Evo Vs DS. Pros and Cons.

Of  the 1100 models what are the relative advantages of each?

I would really like to hear from owners of both DS and Evo models. Really nice, low mileage DS models with all the goodies can be had here for reasonable money.
OTOH, nearly new evo models with warranty left would be nice. I would extend the warranty as Im suspicious of the abs getting sick. Any isdues there? The hotter evo cams and slightly higher compression noticable? Safety pack useful (do the evos come with it standard)?
Of the DS models what are the merits of the S and SP models?

You might have to wait a week for all the EVO riders to spot your thread.  They're out riding. 

FWIW, I ride with two. Both like the TC because it keeps the front wheel below the FAA radar. One claims it's saved him more than once. In 2011 there were some early problems with it which I assume were solved because you don't hear about it since.

The ABS is subtle and non-intrusive and must have a proper threshhold because it only kicks in when it's needed. I'd rate it as seemless.

Will be interesting to see what response you get here. In the USA, I believe all EVO's had ABS and TC but that may vary with the local market.

Personally I love the TC and ABS.  It really is not intrusive on the Evo.  Couple weeks back I had the TC switched off for some reason and slid the back out of a couple of tight turns a bit.  It was so out of character for the bike that I pulled over to check the tire......

13k on the odometer of my 2013 M1100.  So far it has been a near to be flawless motorcycle. 

Rumor has it that the DS models are a bit of a maintenance nightmare.

What was about the DS that you heard that was such a maintenance nightmare? I have heard of bad valve guides on the 1000 DS, but I thought those issues were solved on the 1100.

You can't load the Ducati website?! Try loading your local version maybe? Go to Bikes > Models Archive. Just checked; 2011 says the same about the clutch as 2013. Others can comment. Same as my 796 except no APTC.

I loaded the local site easily, but the transnational site wouldn't load.
All the Evo 1100 specs said dry clutch. Even the pics showed the old dry clutch cover with the Evo cam belt covers. None of the spec sheets mentioned ABS/TC so I guess it's an extra?

All air cooled 1100 HMs have a dry clutch according to tne local dealer site. Pics have Evo cambelt covers with dry clutch cover. What gives?

Hey C. Every HM 1100Evo until the new water cooled models has a dry clutch on the Aussie official dealer site. I checked up to 2013 models. Not bad, Evos with a dry clutch. Must be the only ones. All the models I looked at didn't have the safety pack either on the dealer site. I might as well get a DS if that's the case and save a few thousand bucks.
