Yeah but for some people it's not the cost so much as having your car at home.

a program now is a huge help for your chances in court.   The wakeup call should be your accident, not the fact that you will see a judge.   Judge's don't like when you started a program the week before your Court date.    Your lawyer will be happy to say you went on your own without him/her suggesting it.

Good luck with everything.

It's still buy a flounder a drink month

DUI convictions are large source of revenue for local municipalities and the state.

In Ohio you pay all your fines, etc.

Don't worry, the BMV gets their cut at the end when you get your license back.

Make that 1,500$ check payable to the Secretary of State.

I knew I wasn't an idiot afterall.

I just love, how in the state of ohio, the BMV/secretary of state takes that last jab at you.

Not even a fee associated with the fine sanctioned by the court, it is that extra added fee they throw at you.

Such bullshit.

HeyThatsMyBike

Glad that you got out easy... Sorry, not being facetious, but on the same day a kid in my town, under aged, drove drunk and into a pole. He died on the spot because he didn't have his seatbelt on.  Its really bothers me because like others have mentioned, we've all drove home a bit intoxicated at times.  I've decided especially now that I ride a bike to never ride or drive after having had a few.  Its strange, I feel like my need to be more responsible went up a couple of notches now that I ride.  Good luck and hope everything works out. No doubt a stupid thing to do. You learned from it, nobody was hurt, and you got off extremely lucky.

That being said, if you have a myspace or facebook page with photos of you drinking and partying it up, take them off the site Sometimes those types of pictures will be used against you and that can be very bad. I was just reading about that the other day. There have been cases of people getting jail time after the judge sees pictures like that when otherwise they might have only been fined and/or been made to do public service. Do yourself a favor and get rid of anything like that on the net.
