Hi!
I write because I am trying the reparation of my Monster 1100 MY2009, buried by a lot of mud.
i hunderstood, reading among the various forums, that my bike have a Siemens ECU and I has not found however a free software (if it exists) to make the connection of the bike to the pc to make the diagnosis of the electric system and to understand if anything is broken.
I'm completly cleainng the bike proceeding to the cleaning of all the mechanical components and however I now have to make a check of the whole electric part.
Do you have some suggestion to give me?
Do you knows some softwares to make the controls of the electronic part or some guide to understand if the various components are broken or tripped?
I accept every suggestion, I would like to avoid to throw away the bike without first tried to save....
Hi and thanks to everybody!

Ciao Federico,

You are in Italy and no shop has the software to check you motorcycle?

Have you tried to turn it on?

Have you tried to start it?

If you don't find any shops in your area, they should have some  sort of diagnostic tool; then contact this company, www.gps3000.com

Hi and thanks of the answer!
Currently the Monster is completely dismembered in my garage; yesterday i have tried to connect the whole electric plant (on a table in garage, not on on the bike!!) and once connected the battery and everything and turned on the key, the dashboard gets on!!!
I would like however to understand if the ecu is tripped or not, considering that on dashboard the orange light for motor failure is on...
Probably the light on is due to the fact that some parts of electric plant are not connected (fuel pump, alternator, lambdas, start motor, etc).
In Genoa there are no shops for find sw and I was sincerely looking for some softwares free to try to make the diagnosis.
I don't want to bring the bike to the Ducati mechanic. I don't have intention to pay 50 â,¬/hour for a person that has told me that the electric plant could not be connected without setting on the bike to make the verifications that have done!
I do my own verification and i got it! Absurd, i have to open a whorkshop... ; )
Need some indications about sw diagnosis free working on Continental / Siemens Ecu's, i thank you for the help!
Hi!

Howie

You don't need to pay anyone to tell you the ECU will set off the light if there is no input data to the ECU or output data from the ECU.  It will be on since the system is not functioning.

Atom1974

Tks for answer...
but sorry for my english, not so good...
What you mean?
The yellow light in on because ecu is tripped or not responding at all?
Or yellow light is ON because ecu is running but she can't find all system components?
I know (i hope is true) that dashboard and ecu are linked by cam, isn't that dashboard ON means ecu ON?...Am i wrong?
Thanks for your help, i'm doing my first steps in this work, all suggestions will be appreciated.
Bye!

Howie

Excuse my English, you said it much clearer than me.

Confusion...  ;D
I posted two possibilities:

- The yellow light on dashboard in ON because ecu is tripped / burned or not responding at all?

- The yellow light on dashboard  is ON because ecu is running but she can't find all system components?

Which is the correct answer?  :)

And still...

- is true this?: if dashboard and ecu are linked by cam, isn't true that dashboard ON means ecu ON?... (i hope!)

Tks for your answers!!

Beginning of the procedure of dismantlement and cleaning, first from the biggest parts:

and then the smallest:

And currently (two days ago) the first check of the electric part:

...and finally!!!

I am still looking for a sw of diagnostic!!!
I hope to succeed and ear one more time my Ducati sound!!!

Federico...when you link to a picture on flikr you need to use the share link on the lower right of the image. It looks like an arrow. Choose the BB option and then the size option from the dropdown menu. You can't copy and paste from the address bar.

... I believed that it was right:
right click on icon, choose "open in new tab" and u can see photos...

If the bike was not running when it got submerged then it is unlikely the ECU is damaged.
If any of the sensors are disconnected the check engine light will come on. This includes Exhaust flapper, Lamda sensors.

The only software that I am aware that will allow you to interrogate the ECU is the Rexxer module. You will only be able to read error codes with this. It will not give live data.

"Edit" Technoresearch also make some software to allow you to analyse data with the ECU. Ducatidiag will NOT work on this ECU.
