Hello people

I'm currently in the process of ripping out my unsightly wiring loom from my 2007 695ie, after giving a hefty sum to the motogadget guys for an m unit , m button and handlebar controls (speedo to come) I thought id get started on the loom separating lights and controls from injection and ecu system and sensors.

Wanting to get ride of all fuses and relays I have come across the injector relay which links to many other sensors too, I hoping some one can tell me that I can swap this out for something the m unit does? Is that an option or do I have to keep the relay?

I'm kind of learning the wiring as I go along and taking tips from the forum but can't find much info for this side of the loom.

Thanks! [thumbsup]

Thanks Duck-stew

I have been studying this intensely, it inspired me to start my project

As I have the newer model with the injector system there's no much mentioned that I can relate to on this really, even in suzies 695 project she doesn't mention a lot either!

Although I've wired several 2002-2008 Monsters with MotoGadget gauges, I haven't wired up an 'M-unit' as of yet.  If you have questions besides the above, I can be PM'd here for insight and answers.

I did an m-unit on my m900 a few years back and at the end of the day I chose to keep the separate relay for the FI system.

I honestly don't remember why I choose to do this, but I think it revolved around the idea that if Ducati thought that part of the electrical system needed to be separated from the rest by a relay, who am I to argue?

I own several motorcycles. I have owned lots of motorcycles. And have bolted and/or modified lots of crap to said motorcycles...

Very true, maybe so if there was a fault then the whole system wouldn't fail and maybe easier to fault find?

Seeing as I'm redoing the lot I may as well have a mess around with sticking it all in one relay it seems to me both relays do the same thing so why not!?

Maybe an overload issue but the m unit may be able to handle it seeing as it's made of supernatural German substances!

I know it would down size the loom that little more though which is the whole point of the project.

It would be interesting to see if anyone else has done it

I replaced the fuel pump/injector relay and the headlight relay, plus all the fuses, with a custom designed mosfet circuit. Doing so was a lot of work. You're probably better off sticking with the relays.

Thanks suzyj!

That's exacly what I'm going to do

I'm just going to have to suck up having more wires in the loom, damn injectors!!

Also suzyj, I have a bunch of wires coming from random sensors to the clocks, am I right in saying they activate the engine warning light? And I can just wire these into a new warning light? Is it that easy?

Thanks again
