stock 98 M600 clutch slave

Hope no-one keeps count of dumb questions.
So here goes again.
Can someone tell me if there is a spring that sits in the slave housing behind the piston ie in the hydraulic fluid.
Once again a failing memory has tricked me up againn I pulled it apart and put a new seal on the piston but cannot remember where the spring goes
