Throttle Grip Assembly - White Plastic "Cable Splitter"?
«

I have a 99 M900 - My throttle assembly on the bars bears the elephant logo. Two cable throttle - one on top, one on bottom (around the bars).
When i disassembled for Rizoma Grip installation, the halves split when I unscrewed and pulled apart. The cables were disconnected from the stock throttle grip tube/cam and what appears to be the approximately correct cam for the rizoma grip was installed. There is a small, white, curved plastic 'cable divider/guide' that fit in the throttle housing with the stock throttle grip. It guides the top cable around the 'bend' and towards the top of the stock cam. The bottom half does a similar task for the bottom cable.
I cannot get the damn thing to fit back in with the Rizoma throttle cam. I tried for over an hour. I cursed. I put it all back together WITHOUT the white piece. Bike fired up fine. Throttle returns to zero as it should. Throttle seems to be functioning normal when I turn the bars and give the throttle a whirl.
Is it important I figure out how to put this piece back in the throttle assembly or can I move on, go riding, and get on with my life?

I am not familiar with the rizoma throttle cam so all I can guess is that no the cable guide should stay in the throttle unless the rizoma set-up supplies a new one. Does the rizoma cam fit in the ducati housing or use its own?
is it the cams size that does not allow the use of the guide?
I would ask this question of the person who sold you the rizoma cam.

The Rizoma throttle grip replaces the throttle tube with connected cam, and you put an appropriately shaped Rizoma Cam in, mated with the grip to replace the tube. It uses the existing housing.
I did a 10 mile ride, hand covering the clutch lever (just in case) and everything seemed to run fine...

Got word back from PJ regarding the cable guide: No worries, and people run without them. (Which is what I figured since it behaved normally during my test ride).
