Head Porting

Ok, I need to replace the chewed front head so I figure I might as well replace front and rear with the twin spark heads I have sitting around.
I also need to get them ported. The local guy did the heads that are on the bike now but I was never quiet confident that he did much because there didn't seem to be a lot of difference between standard when looking at them
After looking around I came across Jprecision. http://jprecision.com/

They weld up intake and exhaust ports. Then CNC port the intake, and D port the exhaust.
I'm also planning on getting 44mm inlet valve

Sounds like a really good thing! I tried to talk the guys at VeeTwo into doing this a few years ago, (we did the D porting but not the CNC) but they were too busy destroying the business in other ways!

So...  anyone had this magic cast upon you heads?  What are your thoughts?

Not a hell of a lot there about the heads, but a great read Brad.  [thumbsup]
did you ever get to turn a spanner on that bike?

I guess if its good enough for the guys at loudbike its good enough for me!  :)

Will be sending them today!

I rang em..
$1300. US$ maybe but I'd assume Canadian dollar which is way better...
thats for both inlet and exhaust for both heads.

bigger valve will be more...

Not bad I thought,  from memory it cost about 800-900 on the last set to get the local bloke to have a 'look'

I'm pretty sure that's about the same as the quote I got from them and I'm in the states. It was around fall of last year so I can't be certain of an exact number. You may want to ask JP if they cut into the oil passage feeding the top(cams). Seems like I heard something about that. If that's the case, you'll have to come up with a way to get oil to the top, maybe through external lines like MPB uses, who btw has my heads right now simply because I want to be able to plug and play when I get them back. I supplied the DP cams(210 grind) and Guy's giving them the testarosso treatment(MBP collets, bigger valves, etc.) minus the red paint(I like the stock look). I want to say that Guy and JP work close together. Maybe JP does the porting work according to Guy's specs, not really sure. Also, have you looked into CJS in England? They look like a reputable outfit too.

i must have got it wrong.  i think they have always done the mbp heads.

g'day wataboy...  So, dont tell me that it's taken that long to get yours done (thats about 6 months eh?)

did they mill into your oil feed passage?

Oh no, I just recently sent mine to Guy in mid Jan. but I had previously checked into JP just for the porting and valve work. After much deliberation I decided to send them to MPB just for the convenience of it all.(you get them back ready to install)

But Guy did mention cutting into and blocking off the oil feed passage and feeding the top with external lines. So if JP does do Guy's port work then I would think theirs would be done the same way. I would definitely double check on that though.
