Hi guys. Two small problems with her. I hope ur know how will get me out of the hole

so, first one is that the back light is only flashing, every now and than. wont bother me really but driving at night is annoying and distracting.
the other is that the Speedo is not working and i dont know where to start with that one either. could it be the sensor? if so is that the one at the back wheel?

Regards.

I got nothing on the back light, other than the fact you have an inoperable speedo might mean a bad connection.

The sensor could also be the problem. You can test it with a voltmeter at the connector. It should pulse voltage as you spin the rear wheel.

Is it flashing with the key in on but the bike not started, or when started and everything is vibrating around?

Another possibility is the speedo works, but the needle spins on the motor.
M620 turned M800 but then back to M620 after the M800 died at 110k, and now to Multi 1000.

What about fuses? There is one for speedo

Howie

First step: Yep, the last fuse in the fuse box is for the speed sensor.  Do the gauges sweep when you turn the key?  Does the odometer work?

this happened to me long time ago . . . all was working but the needle was not "seated correctly" on its 'axle'  . . . tech took it appart and pushed it down and not an issue since . . . it the dash was "met with blunt force" it may "jn-seat" the needles . . . if speed sensor was faulty, MIL would be on

Right, the bastard thing started working just fine today, i mean the spedo. I looked at the fuses last time i pulled the tank up, but all of them where good.

as for the backlight i look at the wiring , found the one wire powering it but cant see anything wrong with it, must investigate further. I just tought maybe it was more of common problem and could use any info i can get.

thank u

as far as it goes foe rearlight, is it OEM? Or a "cheap" AM lamp? Why I ask? some cheap AM lamps, the contacts "loose" preasure and are not 100% in contact with the bulb's contacts . . .  How I know? Been there . . . How I took care of issue? Asked around here in forum and searched fleabay for a used OEM one . . . swapped lenses and now I have a OEM complete unit w/red lens a OEM lamp with red & clear lenses and installed a LED integrated with smoke lens . . .  check those connectors, where the bulb touches, if not OEM, bend them carefully towards the bulb; if it is an OEM lamp, maybe bulb could be culprit . . .

I thought he was referring to the lighting in the gauges....the 'backlighting'... :-\

covering "all" angles . . .
or "backlight" for me is the rear lamp and dashboard ilumination would have been a better choice of words . . . Just saying . . .

The rear lamp is the rear lamp. :P

...and the contacts on the OEM unit aren't perfect either. ;)

Well, it says dashboard in the description, so I thought that was a good hint

ducpainter

Any luck finding the issue?
