clutch spring diameter?

Replacing an old dry clutch slipper with a new slipper and transferring the fancy springs and relatively new plates to the shiny unit.

Getting some interference between the springs and the new pressure plate.  Springs are not OE, stainless type, measure 21x40mm.  I suspect the stainless springs are slightly fatter than OE, but can't seem to google up the info I want to verify.

Anyone know the stock OD for dry clutch springs?

The stockers I pulled from my dry clutch '99 ST2 measured 20.73mm on the calipers.

Yoyodyne says to use OE springs, not stainless springs.

Below is how I measured.  Hopefully the OE really are smaller.  The opening of the hole for the spring measures precisely the same @ 20.87mm across the narrow part.  Causes binding.  Bit of a silly design choice on their part.

Off to find some OE springs for my aftermarket slipper

Finally got my OE springs today.  All six, plus two extras in case I need to balance pressures.

For the record, they measure 20.51mm in diameter, and they fit the redesigned yoyodyne slipper pressure plate just fine.   

One supplier of aftermarket springs told me that the stainless steel wire gauge needed to wind a spring equivalent to the OE specs no longer exists in the world, so the SS flavors will invariably have a slightly different dimension and pressure relative to OE.
