Yes, similar, but I would not go as far as to qualify it as "very.

For example, it would be extremely difficult to modify the newer cover. That is why the DucaBike product is a new cover and $$$. Their website has pics of one being machined. It starts with a very large chunk of AL and, to me, it seems that 90 % of it ends up as swarf.

My machining abilities are rudimentary but I do have the equipment to do most tasks, and can conceptualize how to do most operations. I was quite familiar with the DIY clear covers for Ducati and several other brands. My 1100evo cover design had several features which would have made it extremely difficult to mod in the same manner as those earlier examples. An easier, and more similar example would be the Panigale cover.

SV riders are probably familiar with the clear covers Vans made. While doing quite a few for the 650, he never did one for the 1000. Very similar constraints as those of some of the early Ducati wet covers and the latest designs.

I recently purchased this one at a lower price from Mark Riley on the duccutters site, check him out here.......http://www.duccutters.com/MarkRiley-OpenWetClutch.tpl#.VYc_WWK9KSM

I have to say he makes these to a very high standard and offers a great service too with brilliant communication

I can't say a bad word about it

He does them in all different finishes for probably all wet clutch covers and from what he told me he has loads pre made

And at a fraction of the cost!

You can even send him your old cover to be converted or just send it to him for a discount on a new one

Can't wait to fit it after I have it sprayed in crinkle black (glass is removable for painting/finishing)

Will post pics......

That's a nice product ^^^

Did not see the price listed on the site but if you can send him your cover to convert in a timely manner that would be a nice mod.

Since it has not already been mentioned, the price differential is due to the engine cover design differences.

Certain earlier models can be modified by cutting a window in them. Later models can not be modified in that manner. They require an entirely new cover which is designed to accommodate a window. The Al stock required to machine this type is quite large, and therefore requires more machine time which translates to price. For comparison, the DucaBike clear window for the Panigale does not require a new cover and is therefore cheaper......comparatively.  Grin

Note the size of the raw stock, and consider that it is 7075 T6 or similar.

On my M1100evo.

I replaced the supplied black fasteners with Titanium ones around the ring. I also removed about 1/2 inch of the dark grey finish around the pressure plate.

External bolts= ease of servicing. waytogo I bet you mightn't even have to drain the oil to change plates if it's on the sidestand.
