Moved to Phillip Island after getting out of Melbourne, got sick of the traffic and congestion and working for myself had the chance to move to somewhere a bit quieter...enter phillip island...and my first motoGP race a few months after moving in, the track is 5 minutes from my place. Couldn't believe how fast those guys were, totally insane, but it got me hooked on buying a road bike....

Got the bug, after riding dirt bikes for 3 years and MTB ever since I was a kid it was time for the road and a 2007 S2R800 in gloss black took my fancy. Bit of a rush of blood, bought sight unseen from QLD, and have done a fair bit of riding on it now, will be taking it to a track day soon to stretch it's legs but I feel its a really good first bike, not stupidly powerful, not overly big or heavy, nice to ride long distances and has enough squirt to scare the pants off me.

Joined this forum to learn more about the mechanical side of these beasts as I'll be wanting to do servicing and possible a timing belts change in the near future so I know exactly where i'm at. Love the thump of the L-twin, it's a real head turner bike too, simple and clean lines.

It had a danmoto exhaust on it when I bought it, it's not perfect but it sounds awesome and people definitely know you are there when riding in traffic. Look forward to learning more, cheers guys.

Couple pics from when i first bought it.

Welcome!
There's a growing number of Aussies in this international community.
Must be great living near the fastest track on the Moto GP calendar.
Nice bike.
