ok maybe it's me, but what is the benefit of the clip ons?

I personnally think if you lower the tubes through the top triple and put the clipon on top that would work better anyway. but even so, are the bars that bad?

Its really personal preference I think. Some people like the position better.

Depends how you like to ride I suppose.  If you ride aggressively, it *helps* (notice I didn't say solve) the problem of the incredibly light front-ended monster by putting your weight more over the front wheel.

696 monster doesn't have that issue of the rear weight bias.
