Hey all,
I had my first track day ever last weekend with Ride Smart at Circuit Of The Americas in Austin. What a great time! I learned a ton, though I didn't know it at the time. Things were scheduled pretty close between track time and classroom time so not a lot of time for reflection. I did learn that when I remembered to get proper head position I forgot body position, when I remembered body position I missed the line, when I got the line I missed the shift:).
The S2R1000 was fantastic, the only frustrating time was on the straights where I got passed very quickly by a series of big and small panigales, 600s and other liter bikes. In the corners I felt great and was occasionally held up. On one lap  I even passed an 1199 (I think) on the outside!..Ok it was the second to last corner before the end of the session and he may have been slowing down to get ready to hit the pits..but in my story I PASSED AN 1199 on the outside laughingdp

Here's some pics, always interesting to see video and stills. What I thought was great position at times was really not close, so very useful. I'll also post a link to some youtube vids if anyone is interested. They are just of me and my buddy on his RSV4 and are really wobbly, but it was my first time using a GoPro.

Did you guys ride the full track or the shortened one? I am assuming the full track......if yes, did you fall asleep on the back straight? That sucker is LONG!

That certainly looks like a blast!

We rode the full one. The back straight was long, but I loved it until liter bikes started passing me like I was standing still:) I saw 140 on the speedo, but I have lower gearing so I'm guessing I hit probably an honest 125 but cant be sure.  guess  the high level guys will hit 175 there. I have to admit at those times I wanted a faster bike:)

Cota is an awesome track to ride, I've been there 3 times now and hoping to go again in September. Hope to see you out there sometime.

Need to remember to bring tire warmers next time so I don't have to go so easy on the first lap.
