So for the second time in less than two years, my bike has been hit and dragged while parked again!!!

Photos of damage included.  She needs to go in because her front end is wobbling/clicking.  I am so depressed.  Also that back end with the rear turn signals?  Well that whole bit needs to be replaced now?!  I guess this forces me to do a "tail chop"?  Some may remember when I was asking about LED lights.  What about LED tail lights?

Handlebar is bent again... Snapped the clutch lever in half.

If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.  Tank is also starting to bubble bad... I know that $1700 there for a replacement tank which I was going to do during the winter...  I just need her to run for 90 more days for me before we can put her up to be worked on for the winter.

People saw it- got the wrong licence plate number down.  pregnant dog just hit the bike twice when she was pulling out, did a u-turn and didn't give a make the beast with two backs.

I am hoping to get the bike towed on Tuesday and get it fix enough to ride a few more months as that I cant afford fix the car...  Seriously, this shit bums the hell out of me.

Sorry to hear about the hit and run.

You might get lucky if you post up in "Parts Wanted", if not a brand new one should only run about $40.  Meanwhile, some creative taping will work.

Post a list up of what you need once you properly check it over. I have nice billet levers for you that may fit. They're yours for cheap shipping only. They were gifted to me and my project faltered, so you're welcome to them. I'll pm darkmonster620 to check if they fit.

The bolts that hold the levers to the brake and clutch master cylinders, how thick are they in millimetres?

Those are 'big pivot' masters - like on most/all coffin style.

Let me check my S2/S4R parts stash to see what i have laying around. In case you need a front end and are willing to do the upgrade I definately have a set of really good 999 forks that have Racetech springs in them and they're yours if the FE needs a fixin. Will let you know what else I have once i check.

It hurts me just looking at the pictures.

You guys are so friggin' awesome.  You really are.

PM me and I will send you my address. Tell me how much the shipping costs for those items and I will paypal it to you.

The whole story of what happened that the witnesses saw is just mind-boggling to me. The woman knows she did it and took off.  Just like when it happened before. Gives my sex a really bad name.  I thought we were the responsible ones. Sad

Also is it easy to rewire if I do the work myself on that back fender/tail lights?  I am slowly learning a few things about bikes- I have always wanted to do most the repairs on mine to save some money.

I'll let you know about the forks... I don't think its the forks to be honest, I think something else is "off" alighment in the front wheel.  I don't know if its the fender or the disks.

I also need a kickstand.  This one has been rebent into shape twice now.. it metal has to be getting weak.

Friggin'.  I would never do something like this and just take off. Sad

My Ducati got knocked over twice at work last year. People backing into the space without really looking. Fortunately both people tracked me down and made good on the damages, just a busted bar end mirror both times. I found that it's best to park my bike at the front of the space rather than putting the bike at the back so people can see it better. Hasn't been a problem since.

There are a lot of men who would have taken off too.

Sorry, the levers must have found a home already.  If none show up  http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/ADJLEVER/Controls/ADJLEVER.html  are a good buy.

If you use a stock blinker, plug and play.  After market might require some modification, LED, if all four will require resisters.  Any damage to the tail other than we see in the photo?

Wise decision on the kickstand.  Good insurance.

I got a stock rear turn signal from someone on the board for $10 (I put an ad in "parts wanted").  Someone else offered me two spare signals for cost of shipping but I have already closed on the $10 one.  My point: plenty of signals on this site for very cheap---no need to buy the $40 new version.

They are plug n' play.  It took me maybe 3 minutes to completely swap out my busted signal for the new one.  You should be fine doing it yourself, assuming you don't go the LED route.  For that, I defer to those that have LEDs for input on complexity.

I wasn't sure from the photo, but do you have a frame slider installed?  Others on here may have direct experience, but I think a Speedymoto or similar frame slider might protect some of the bike if it gets knocked and dragged again.  Hopefully, though, that won't happen again.

Sorry to hear.  Hope you get her up and going soon.

Spike in PDX

« Reply #14 on: August 24, 2015, 11:52:51 AM »

So sorry to hear of this, it really sucks! My M1100S was backed into in front of a grocery story and the side stand was pushed into the motor, totaling the bike. Since then I am very careful about how and where I park. If the side stand from a 2 nd gen bike will work I have one that you can have, it is virtually new, for shipping cost.
