Started to replace the fuel filter in my 749s about 6 months ago and got interrupted when I tore the old oring on reassembly and had to order some replacements.  That and a job change.

Going back together today.  Is it normal for the three special nuts to bottom out on the tank body instead of the aluminum fuel pump assembly flange?  Seems to be several mm gap so the flange could float up and down if it wanted to.  Sorry not a monster, but figure some monsters are probably similar.

are you sure the flange is in its correct position in the tank?

pic is not too clear but, connector should point forward and it looks it pointing backwards . ..

Flange is definitely in the correct orientation!   [drink]

My steel tank st does not have that gap. So going to say not normal.

Speeddog

Yes, they bottom out on the tank.

Looks like about a 1mm gap.

That's about what I remember on the steel SBK tanks, been a little while since I've had one.

Thanks guys.  I was really second-guessing myself with the big bag-o-fasteners from months ago, but everything's together with apparently no left over parts, and nothing else resembled those three shouldered nuts.  Will add a small amount of fuel for testing - and keep a hose handy just in case.   [Dolph]
