So I'm almost done modding my bike and the paint job was messed up so I have to get it redone.

At first I had black and gold with the pinstripes. They were crap so even if I decided to keep them they had to be redone. I sanded them off and now I can't decide whether to keep them or not.

The pinstripes do make the whole thing pop a bit, but without them the bike is cleaner looking. I know which I'm leaning toward, but wanted to get some feedback.

Which look do you guys think looks better.

Strange, I'm not a pin stripe fan but it looks great on your bike.

Thanks buddy. I'm definitely going with the gold stripe. I was just going back and forth between the black stripe on the cowl and the helmet. I'm starting to lean towards leaving the black on there. Either way the guy messed up the paint job. You can't see it in the pictures, but he left residue from the stencil on the panels and cleared over it. So now all the lettering looks awful. Also the pinstripe is crooked and not on the edge like I wanted. Hard to find a good painter. If Iived near Ducpainter I would have had him do it. Smiley

Do the pin stripe.

I really like the black calipers with gold lettering.

Agreed! Was going to clean up and re-gold my calipers, but that looks sweet! I'm headed towards a similar look, blackout with some limited gold highlights.

I vote pin stripe all the way.  I also agree with the praise for the calipers.  Brilliant!

LionsGrip: you know, you can make a poll on the thread to get people's vote for pin or no pin.  Might be too late since the thread is already started, but just an FYI for future posts.

Thanks guys. The only pinstripe that I was iffy about was the black one, but the more I see it the more I like it. I'm getting the paint job redone next week, so everything will be done right. The place I took it too did a crap job. I was taking out an air bubble on the decal on my helmet and the paint ripped right off. Under the paint you can see the matte black finish it perfect condition. they didn't even bother to scuff up the paint before painting.

As for the calipers I can't wait to test them out. After I got them powder coated the service guy at the dealership said that everyone who gets that done has nothing but problems. On top of that I had to hunt down the seals to rebuild them and the only place I found them was in the UK. I never heard of problems after powder coating, but I guess i'll find out soon.

I really like the gold pinstripe on the tank.  Then again, my 1098, 911 and fat bike are all some sort of black and gold.  Not sure about the stripe on the rear cowl, though, as it doesn't flow with the front.  What about the shape of a number plate, whether in solid gold or just a gold pinstripe outline?

Pin striped tank, yes, but maybe not the lower/last wave'y 10 inches...

Sharpie pen will take care of the red on the axle sliders and exhaust heat guard washers.

I assume there will be some gold on the handle bar? Lever or bar end sliders? Not both, it'll be too obvious!

 Cool

Oh, wait! Please don't leave the shock spring yellow  Wink

Froggert: The whole idea behind the rear pinstripe was to connect the rear cowl with the tank stripe. I like the gold racing stripe and the pinstripe on the tank, but I didn't know how to merge the two styles. That was the best I could come up with. I'll try to come up with a couple ideas before next week.

Stopintime: The wavy part was there to connect the two pieces I figured the line form the rear cowl would follow the line on the seat and connect to the wavy line to flow better. The red washers are getting replaced with black and the red in the sliders I can live with. There is red stitching on the seat so its not too bad. I was looking for gold, but couldn't find any. I had Rizoma ones on, but I needed a spool for the rear.

As for the handlebar here are the grips and levers I got.

And yes the shock will be painted over the winter. I got a quick fix until then.I'm also going to powder coat or anodize the forks black and get the plate that the rear brake attaches to powder coated black. After that I just need to get the main frame bolt replaced with a black one and I should be done.

That handle bar color scheme is perfect  waytogo

I still think the wave must go  cheeky

The red stitching can also be Sharpie'd.....

For the spring: maybe dark metallic grey? There's a limit to how black a bike should be. You're not there yet, but be careful.

It's a beautiful bike - very well done  waytogo

I was thinking of something along these lines, but in gold instead of white or just the shape outlined in pinstripe:

Thanks Stopintime. After those last couple pieces i'm done. If anything I might add a bit of gold to the carbon fiber front fender, but that would be it.

Froggert. I was looking at those before. They are nice. I want to keep the rear cowl like it is just because I painted the helmet to match the style. I probably will just clean up what I have already, but I'm still looking into it. I'll post some pics when it's done.
