Here's my plan, 100mm Pistal pistons and I Would like to run as much Compression as possible on 93 octane gas in the Florida heat. Can I get by with 11.5-1? Is 12-1 pushing it? Here is my plan:
2004 MS DS1000 9K miles
JPrecision CNC ported heads oversize valves
Stock cams
termi cans, baffles removed with cat delete and PC 111 for now

I am new to Ducati and would like to get some more power......  100HP+ If possible..... I can get my cylinders bored and plated and I am leaning towards getting a PC V with auto tune as I have an O2 port downstream of both pipes.........  What quench distance do you use as this is critical for detonation resistance? Are these Pistal pistons really $800 for a pair? If that's the going rate I guess I have to pay but I understand the high price of custom parts.......    I am also not planning on going into the engine any further than the heads/cylinder and I was wondering how the balance of the reciprocating assembly turns out? How much do the 100mm pistons/pins weigh compared to the stockers? Hopefully the same?

I have no interest in re-inventing the wheel here and I am looking for a proven combination of parts to relibly increase my power and still retain decent driveability with the stock cams.....  Thanks in advance....   TBF

Thanks.....  Some good info there.......     Let's see those 1123 motors and builds! How much Compression with 93 octane can this combo tolerate with the stock cams?

Travman built up a ported, 1123 big bore, hi comp 1000DS with stock cams. It made about 95-98hp iirc and a stonking 82 ft/lbs of torque from low revs. Absolute torque beast.
Worth a search to find it. He would have got 100+ hp with DP cams but went for a grunt style motor. Search for 1123 and enter Travmans name as author. Edit: I went back and reread the whole thread. Great stuff.

I'll be watching your build. [thumbsup]

Yes, I did read Travmans thread.....    Good info.......    I am also looking for an engine with massive torque and not interested in every last HP, especially at the top of the rpm band......
I am strictly street but I do like to haul ass and the DS1000 does it very well! I just want to improve on a good thing with some sensible mods and make more power. If I increase to C/R to 11.5-1/12-1 how much snappier will the exhaust note get? It already sounds incredible now no no cat and the termi's without baffles.......  I just love the deep, big V-8 hot rod sound! Are the 100mm Pistal pistons the same weight as stockers? Anybody know how many grams the pistons/pins weigh for comparison? I know somebody has done this?  thanks... TBF

That is an old link for Ca-Cycleworks. We no longer facilitate head work. Sorry about that guys!
I mainly posted it for the rest of the good info on that page.

Is MBP still doing them in Canada?
