Cheers Tony, I was intending to flush the oil as many time as possible until the sump plug came up clean before a short run then another oil drop then a longer run depending how things looks.  I shall keep you posted  [thumbsup]

I did that with a Triumph America cruiser that crapped its sprag bearing and it came up clean. However, there was initially nothing on the sump plug, and it was clean after surgery.
Got me fingers crossed Marty.

After a 20 minute run today - sump plug was fine mesh filter some very minor metal shaving  [thumbsup]

If the washer behind flywheel was the culprit,
the noise will come back and bearing disintegrate again.
W alt cover off, did you spin it w starter motor to see if crank end seemed offset?
