Hi guys,

I posted in an another thread earlier asking about replacing stock bulb on my Monster with something which is brighter. Well afterward, I did some reading and learned about a product called Photon Blaster made by Skene Design. It's a visibility light to make the bike more visible to other drivers or riders on the street.  After some thinking I decided to get this visibility light instead of getting brighter light bulb or adding some auxiliary LED light on my bike. I figure, the lack of light on my Monster is some kind of safety feature...it makes me ride slow at night Grin

I ordered Photon Blaster two weeks ago IIRC. I ordered one with yellow led lights and ALERT! feature. I chose yellow for the LED light color cause I want to be more visible. I asked Jerry about this and he told me that yellow will be more visible. So I chose yellow.

The Alert! feature. This feature is an optional feature that makes the PB lights flash rapidly when the horn button is pushed or the high beam is switched on, or in my case when Passing button is pushed.

The package arrived about a week after I placed my ordered, it arrived on Friday and on Saturday I..well we casuse I got help, installed it.

Installation was not difficult...I got help from a Ducati mechanic so it was not difficult Grin Jerry said that installation is easy and anyone can do it, some reviews that I read also suggested that installation is easy. I can change battery, or change light bulb or connecting  a 3BR charger to the battery, but that's all. When it's more complicated than that, like wiring certain wire to another wire that's a different story. I know nothing about bike electrical system and I didn't want to risk anything so I asked for help.

The PB lights are mounted on the front fender. The wires from the lights to the controller are then routed following the front brake lines. As for the control module, it is placed on the front part of the air box, on the left hand side of the air box it's velcroed there...the velcro comes with the package...and then it is covered by the tank cover.

When mounting the lights the only thing that you need to be careful of is that you have to mount it as vertical as possible. That way the light will not shine to or directed to the eyes of drivers of oncoming traffic. I use an iPhone level app to make sure that both lights are vertical.

The PB lights flicker but it can be set to non flicker. Setting it is easy, just turn the ignition key on and off three times in short interval then it is set, either from flicker to non flicker or the other way around. It stays that way until you change the setting again.
I set mine to flicker.

The picture don't do justice to the light. It's brighter than it appears on the picture above.

Here's a close up look of PB lights on the right and left front fender:

Impression:

It's been installed for several days now ... and I commute on my bike every day ... I can tell you that I really like this product. It works really well and I'm sure that everyone notices me better now.

The Alert! feature can be connected to the brake lever, to the horn button, to the high low beam switch or to the Passing button. I connected mine to the Passing button so when I pass someone, before I pass  I push the Passing button twice in a second or two then the PB will flash an alert. I really like it. People see me better now. Several times after I pass cars, they flash me quick flash of their light.

Skene Design also sell P3 light system which is for the brake light. I thought about getting it too, but decided against it cause I often spend my time riding in traffic jam, slow moving traffic, stop and go traffic that I think it will really annoy the drivers behind me, cause in that kind of traffic I use brake all the time.

So, if you want to get conspicuity light or visibility light, I highly recommend Jerry Skene's Photon Blaster. waytogo
