Monster 1100 Hard Start Question - New ECU?

Hi,

My Ducati was delivered today, although I'm still in Norway and will be for a few weeks (still waiting for this snow to clear!). Apparently it had an issue starting on two attempts - first to get it up the drive from the delivery van, and then again when I asked to hear it over the phone. Seems to sound great when it's running, perhaps it drops below idle briefly after it's revved slightly but I think this is normal.

Anyway, first day of being a Ducati owner and there is something to be concerned about lol. I've been doing some forum research and it seems like a higher 150 capacity battery may help fix the problem, or a new ECU since it has the Termi's. Other fixes seem to include adjusting the air valves for a slightly richer mix. It's probably best for me to have a look myself before I go jumping to any conclusions. It could just be a drained battery from sitting in the bike shop over the winter. Though the bike is only under warranty for a month or so.

Anyway, I wanted to ask if there is an upgraded ECU for the 1100 that people recommend with the Termignoni exhausts - even without the hard start issue. Figured I'd start a new thread to get the most up to date advice.

Thanks for any tips.

If your dash reads "RACE" then you have the DP ECU,

With the weather you have in Norway, it could be that the battery's not fully charged . . .

You could either go:

OEM YUASA battery and purchase this, http://www.amazon.com/Ducati-Battery-Maintainer/dp/B004J66C9E NO need to unplug from bike

If you go the LiOn way, then you should either get a battery that can be charged with a regular charger or a battery and a dedicated charger or get this, https://www.pure-ducati.com/p-6533-ducati-1299-panigale-lithium-ion-batter-96580071a.aspx + http://www.amazon.com/Ducati-Lithium-Battery-Charger-69924821A/dp/B012YDK5N2

Hope this helps

Cool, thanks for that - I'll have a look. I've been reading of all the various voodoo fixes like hitting the starter when "mileage" appears and such. I guess I'll have to put a lid on this until I can get over to the UK and have a look-see myself. Could be something simple or something less so.

Thanks for the tip regarding the ECU.

Charge the battery before you do anything else.
