M1100 - broken exhaust header stud?

Hi,
One of these sheared while removing from front cyl. Exhaust is off, so room to work with. It's left just enough protruding to get 2 nuts on, but when trying this method they both loosen.
I was now going to try using a stud extractor, and apply heat with a plumbers blowtorch, but nervous about causing damage if I heat the head too much?  Could anyone give me some guidance, as to best way forward please?

The final option was to try & get the bike to someone who could weld something (nut,etc) to the stud, then try again, but this is more hassle, cost,etc.

There are stud extraction tools that grip as you turn. Having room to use them could be an issue.

there should be enough space to use the stud extractor, as its the front cyl & the exhaust is gone. The question is, how much heat should I apply, using a small blowtorch?

Being the exhaust port it should be able to take heat. Keep it tight and local. I would give it some Penetrene, some careful taps with a small ball hammer and have at it with the stud tool.
Penetrene, a  Penetrene soaked rag, glad wrap and a rubber band to soak it over night.

ok, thanks for the advice. Another daft question, should I be heating just the cyl heat, just the bolt, or both?

Try to only heat the head, you want to expand the aluminum so it loses grip on the stud.
