Upgraded battery cables/headlight wiring

Because I'm new to the Ducati and all it's quibbles, I'm reading as much forum porn as I can trying to learn what I can. I've noticed on a number of forums issues with starting... not only cold starts, but restarts after a stop, etc. I've read (somewhere, maybe here..? ) that the factory wiring to high current devices like the starter and headlight isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Are there pre-fab wiring upgrade components available? I've also seen other mods like better cooling to the rectifier and such... what else would be a reasonable mod?
I'm very interested in improving my headlight output... my tired 50-year old eyes don't see as well at night as I would like... if there is a way to bolster the output of the stock unit (besides relamping) I'm all in.

There are wiring upgrade kits from sponsor Motowheels for battery and starter. These are easy prefabbed kits. Some fit extra earth cables to frame/and or motor from the - terminal. I fitted an extra cable that connected to the frame/- battery connection and ran it to the external bolt securing the starter to help ground it.
A relay and heavy duty cables to the headlamp helps. Sometimes people are lucky with a fancy headlight globe improving light output, but it doesn't help if the wiring is a weak link.
