He suggests back roads and stay at the posted speed limits!

Baffles in the Termi's and shifting early are your friends.

Thanks for the heads-up.

If you MUST speed, be REALLY careful when approaching the overpasses - they'll have 2 or 3 on foot with radar guns in hand, picking people off, and Ponch, John & crew lined up on the on ramp, licking their chops...

It was sure crazy.

I saw many people getting pulled over just before you hit Cannery Row Friday Night.

Don't get me started...

Anyone want to lay odds that we eventually loose the GP to Indianapolis completely?  Angry

I heard they signed a 5 year deal so we've got it for at least 5 more years! Cheesy

I would be more worried about losing it to Miller in Utah.  I really like Laguna, and would be sad to see it go elsewhere.
The only LEOs I saw on my ride down Saturday morning had cars pulled over  Evil but I just kept my speed reasonable and was fine.

It's not just the cops - Monterey and its businesses need to get their heads out of their asses. It feels like they just wish all those dirty motorcyclists would go away. And they're on their way to making their wish come true.

The problem with Utah (I suspect) is that there really aren't enough hotel rooms to handle a bazillion visitors. Indy is used to dealing with huge crowds, and has the infrastructure to cope.

I didn't get that feeling as much this year. At least it was a little improved. I saw "Welcome Race Fans!" signs everywhere - even out in the farms on Hwy 1; checkered flags up at the hotels etc.; Moto only parking created in different places. I talked to a couple of cafe' owners about it. They said this was basically their x-mas in Monterey. The Moto GP is peak tourist season overshadowing all other events by quite a stretch they said.

Would they really turn down that much $? OMG every fleebag hotel does it's season with the rate hikes over the weekend. $300 a night plumbing optional and free lice  Tongue

I guess it must be good for some and not so much for others. I get that the noise restrictions are prolly written for the 50 odd people who live near. They should get their heads out of their butts. Hello?! you live near a race track. Deal, or move.

The cops are on it like flies on sh*t however and that's a bit annoying. It's their their x-mas as well  Angry But admittedly I saw an equal number of cars getting busted if not more. Cannery Row was PACKED and Johny Police was being a bit grim there trying to support the hotels who'd been overrun. But what are you going to do with that many squids? Monterey doesn't have enough ambulances.  cheeky

I got nailed on eastbound Reservation Road Sunday. They had another speed trap set up a few miles from hwy 68. I had to gun it to get past this idiot SUV driver who came into my lane, and ended up right in front of the speed trap. We'll see what happens, but I'm inclined to fight it.

that stinks. I was thinking about a -what if- with that exact scenario that's so weird. Not so weird I did the same with 73 SUV's on the way home as well. Safety is a good reason to step out of the lines. Breaking puts you in his blind spot and gets you another vehicle up your 6 while accelerating gets you out of the way and makes you visible. + the ride back down to Monterey doesn't suck. That's what I came up with. Not much help.

Inspiration to fight it or at least show up and give the  Police a chance to not show up:
According to my Ins Comp. what a ticket costs:

Price of speeding ticket $250 aprox.
Time a point stays on your record:
3 years.
Price of loosing good driver discount with a point on your record (my Ins.):
$600.
= $850. aprox.

that mohter kufcing sucks

EDIT.
Stupid Idea: Post up on BARF getting everyone who won a ticket over the weekend to fight it. Leo would be on overwhelm. Imagine how many they wrote in the last 3 days. Jimminy. They wouldn't see the Sun for a month for court appearances.
