Good morning to you all. Noticed last week bike running very rough traced it to a faulty regulator. Pulling the regulator off noticed a couple of dirty wires so cleaned these put the bike back together and now no spark. Have checked the ignition coils the pick up coils and the stator all within spec given in hanyes manual. One plug cap was found to be fried.  Can the ignition control units be checked? but both giving up together!! I know the charging circuit is separate from the ignition circuit but have I done something silly. Pulling the reg. off it has 929 written on it so as there is no Ducati 929 must be off something else, fireblade maybe. Have new plugs and ht leads, fuse checked. Any help would be gratefully received the sun is shining in Ireland, which doesn't happen very often, so desperate for a fix thanks for reading all the best Clive

One thing to check is wiring at steering stem.
Not uncommon isolation wears through, causing short-no start.

Your new reg do charge the battery properly?

Thank you will go over all the wiring again just in case I missed something. I haven't got a regulator yet but the battery is brand new.

Running the bike with loose connections at the battery can kill the ignition units.

There are aftermarket ignitors available, basically the same as the originals.
Try "ducati ignitor" with your favorite search engine.

As an option, there is also the Ignitech TCIP4 unit, a single device that replaces both ignitor units.
They're easily adjustable via a laptop.
I've used one for over 3 years and ~14k miles, works very nicely.

Ducati does have a test procedure for the modules, but it seems to not really work.  So much so I don't even want to post it.  Do make sure you have power to terminal 85 at the main relay with the key on and power to the coils.  If you do, try to borrow a known good module.  Anything else electric not working on the bike?

Thank you Howie will check the relay in the morning. The only check I've done on the coils is the primary and secondary, can I see if current is reaching the coils via the two feed wires? The fuel warning light and neutral light don't work either well very occasionally the neutral light works. Thanks for taking the time and replying to this

Just a update. I do have power to the main relay and to the coils so back to thinking both ignitors are fried, ouch.

Great idea if you are thinking of future engine modifications.

If you can borrow a module for test purposes, do.

Hi all, looking to buy new ignition control units and came across a company in Belgium selling a single unit to replace the two on the bike for €180 think that's about $160 tried to put a link up here but couldn't. Has anyone heard of or using this product. Many thanks in advance.

What problem are you having pasting a link?

That shouldn't be the case. You should be able to paste links on this site.

Are you getting an error message?
