How'd I spend my long weekend? Sitting down with my soon to be ex wife and figuring out how our divorce is going to work. Moving my stuff out, crashing on couches.
Hey man I get it, I split with my ex almost exactly three years ago and it was very difficult, especially with kids in the mix.
That said, one of the biggest upsides of this change in lifestyle is that I do have more free time, and freedom, to pursue interests such as riding when I've got the opportunity. Divorce is a pregnant dog and I'm not advocating, but, for me, I am able to find some true happiness now that I couldn't when married, such as taking off for an adventure like this without having to feel like I owe anyone anything in return for the privilege to do so (even if at times in previous years that obligation was more in my own head, admittedly).
It's no coincidence that I got back into riding one year after my split and soon after my divorce, or that given the time to work on myself and rebuild my life I could recently jump back into the world of Ducs and truly enjoy it -- now, more than ever.
Hang in there and keep moving your feet and time does indeed heal the wounds. (TIME = Things I Must Earn)
Keep the dirty side down my brother.
