'Bout time somebody opened this thread. Thanks!

It's pretty surreal to see Marquez languishing in the middle of the timesheets, though I don't doubt he & his team are going to be pretty quick at making up lost ground from missing the Austria test. Vinales gave credit to the new winglets on the Suzuki for the big jump in his performance since the test -- no surprise, he says he can get on the power sooner and harder out of several of the slow corners without raising the front wheel.

Also nice to see red at the front of the field, though I'm too much of a pessimist to let my hopes run too far toward Sunday...

Vinales was behind Rossi for a couple of laps, and seemed to be losing very little ground.

Marquez and JLo didn't run a fresh set of rubber at the end of FP2, so their positions suffered.

Saturday is supposed to be warmer, so I expect JLo to advance and Vinales to fall back.

Gap from 2nd to 3rd is ~same as from 3rd to 11th.

I'm hoping the Ducs can run with that kind of advantage for the whole race and not barbecue the tires!

A number of riders were mentioning tire life as the big wildcard in this race; I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of fast riders going backward in the closing laps.

MM crashed in practice avoiding a slowing Pedro and looks like he buggered up his shoulder. Dislocated I think.

MM crashed in practice avoiding a slowing Pedro and looks like he buggered up his shoulder. Dislocated I think.

Dislocated it, then went on to qualify 5th.  Shocked

Rossi & Lorenzo also both found something new to split the factory Ducatis in 2nd and 4th, respectively. The stage is definitely set for Rossi's perfect storm - he wins the race and puts the Ducatis and another bike or two between himself and Marquez.

The Desmo still looks like the bike to beat tomorrow, but the massive advantage they once enjoyed at this track seems to be shrinking by the hour.

Tomorrow looks to be a bit cooler, so likely to tip the balance more toward Ducati.

I suspect MM is made from titanium wire and super-balls.
That's the only thing to explain how he survives.
Quite the front-end save he did as well.

Good to see Laverty doing the business!
And giving Crazy Joe some stick!

Tough little bugger. I'd say his testicular mass makes up half his body weight.

Smashing win. Stoner as test rider has got Ducati on track I reckon.

I noted that Mick Doohan was in the Ducati garage! 👍🏻👍🏻
