I realize that some people are not all about having a gear indicator on their bike, I'm not really sure about it either.  But, I've been fixated on doing this project for a bit now, and would like any input that could be provided.  I've got the design all laid out upstairs, nothing much on paper yet, but what I'm really looking for is anyone with experience reading both the speed and rpm signals from ANY of their bikes with and electronic system.  From what I can tell, they should both basically be timed pulses or square waves that correspond to the current speed/rpm.  From this data I can divide the numbers and record each ratio.  Should be simple, but I'm just looking for some input.  Or if anyone would be interested...I should be able to build them for about $30, maybe less.

I'm not sure how Ducati does it but they should be pulsed.

Anyways, I would definetly be interested in something like this. Let us know what you come up with. [popcorn]

I don't like to open new threads uncounted, so topic up!
Does anyone know anything about gear indicators? I am looking for my Duc monster 400 (totally similar to 620) year: 2004, but I really could not find any. Anyone met a device like this before?

I've seen a bunch on ebay for about $85 but that takes the fun (and time) of building one yourself!
