Been having this weird symptom where if i redline or have a hard pull through a few gears (ie freeway ramp) my tach falls behind like 2-3K and stays lagged behind until i restart the bike. like, listening to my motor i know im in the 5-6K RPM range but tach reads like 3K. ONLY happens if i really get on it, say like in the 8-9K range. One duc tech im friends with said it was the reg rec. Given their reputation, swapped it out for a brand new shendengen mosfet. Still having the same problem though. may be the tach itself? I dont think the needle is lose or anything cause wouldnt that happen in any RPM range? would the pick up sensor do this? any help is much appreciated.

If the engine is running (sounding) right and not matching the Tachometer it is MOST likely the tachometer. If it were corrosion I would think it would be off all the time but check the connector at the back of the gauges anyway.   The Regularo rectifier has nothing to do with the tach and if it were the crank angle sensor the bike would not run right. It could be the signal coming from the ECU to the Tach is the problem but I have not seen it before (anything CAN happen).

I do see tachs that are off hand will be erratic and it is often just the Tach going bad. If it were me I would ditch the immobilizer and buy a used tach or try (borrow) someone elses to test.

reg/rec does have something to do with gauges. if its failing and not shunting all the voltage the stator is making (especially at high RPMs) it will send to much current causing gauges to freak out. This only happens on a hard pull closed to red line. glad its not the pick up cause bike runs fine when it wigs out. i took gauges apart few months ago and cleaned as best as i could with some electronics cleaner. couldnt really clean everything in there though. if anyone has experience with taking these gauges apart please share. any other ideas? thanks
