Since individual bike fit is like being fitted for a suit, I had my stock seat modified for my stumpy build and riding style. I had the seat sculpted so I sat more in the bike and had two bum cheek soft inserts fitted to the seat foam for comfort. This seat is my performance seat and does look like a cross between the DP comfort/low seat and race seat for the Hyper. I found the bike actually handled better with the new riding position and I was much improved taking tight and switch back corners which had been a problem for me. My substantial mass was more centralized and I could move around more effectively. Best hundred bucks I've spent in awhile.

OzTrim in Ringwood (Melbourne Australia) does custom seat mods and you actually get fitted out on your bike. Alan operates like a tailor. waytogo If you are a local, pm me and I can give you his details. Great work.

Alan reused the stock cover and carved out the seat adding comfort foam inserts. Then I would go for a ride and return giving feedback and then he would make adjustments. A very personal type of service. Of course you have to ride there and get fitted out. After a couple of rides it was right and the seat was done 30 mins later. I left my Sargent seat there which is the two up/touring seat for the GLW and myself. I found the piping caused pressure points and there were a couple of edges that needed to be rounded to what was otherwise a great seat for comfort but caused me issues in slow corners. It will be recovered in slip proof "shark skin" fake suede textured material. I send people to this guy and have had a number of seats done by him over the years.

Note the room for me to transfer weight and the narrow front area that helps me hang off and use the tank pads as anchor points.
Ergos are everything ay?

Ergos f sure are everything...

Did the same myself w a spare -04 saddle f the Multi.
Thinking old tractor iron saddle, evened out the bum pressure.
Located the pressure points f ass bones, sculped 2 cavities, filled
w memory foam. Locating points essential.
Narrowed inner thigh area and added some foam front to keep from sliding forward.
For now, covered all w 20 mm kitchen stool foam.

Just wow, complete transformation!
Cheek ache 2/3 less, no ass bone ache at all!
Free and best 2 hours spent on bike yet.

Not much talent needed, you could do it,  too.  Wink

Common sense, fish filet knife & a curved grinder on your
Power tool + some foam. And a stapler w som oompfh...

Next is my -08 seat w softer foam.

Seat comfort discussions, are we getting old?
I know I am and l'm fine w that . waytogo

Are yiu healed now from your injuries?

There is no hump on the forward part of the seat, so I slide down into the back of the tank, and/or load up my wrists trying to hold myself back off it.

Yeah, the stock Hyper seat did that too, bad for the cojones, also hard as a rock so I could only last 15 mins on it. Worst stock seat I have ever ridden. Are Ducati forcing us to buy a DP seat?

DP seats not much better. The DP Monster seat f e just had 20mm more padding....
Softer but same bad cheek pressure distribution etc.
The -04 I massaged is the rock hard kind, now much better than DP.

Customised Sargent seat for plush two up touring with the GLW. Had the piping removed, sharp edges rounded and extra plush layer added with a non slip cover.
Update: Pillion in a million really likes the mods and feels more comfortable and secure, not falling back or forward and both rider and pillion are well supported.
Worth every cent.

Regarding the sport seat, I realise the better ergos (for me) allow me to get the inside elbow down and front end anchored and planted into corners giving much better feel and stability. My stumpy limbs are better tucked into the bike and my arms are bent giving good bike control. Don't underestimate what a seat mod (or handle bar or foot peg mod) can do for your riding if the bike doesn't quite feel 100% right for your body shape. Amazing what a couple of inches lower into the bike does for me.
