Hey guys, it's my first time owning a motorcycle with a SSSA -- while it looks great I have a few questions before I purchase and place one on my M1200.


- How effective are rear axle sliders with SSSA's? It looks as if there's such little space -- especially on the exposed side to be protective.

- If I put an axle slider on the back end, will I no longer be able to use a SSSA rear stand? Are there axle sliders which will work with a SSSA rear stand?

Rear stand is just too good for general maintenance. I'd like to be able to have protection and practicality and not accidentally buy the wrong type of protection or stand that wont work together.

I've seen more damage prevention with front sliders, but I'm sure you could gain some protection with them on the rear as well... I think seat/exhaust/swingarm usually will take most of the surface contact in a "normal" crash/slide though...

You can still use an SSSA stand, but then you need to remove the sliders each time. Or, get sliders that will work with DSSA stands. (such as SpeedyMoto from sponsors MonsterParts and MotoWheels)

I have T-Rex rear sliders on my S2R1000 can't give an example of crash protection but they double as track stand bobbins
so I can use a normal stand rather than the annoying single sided one which always makes me nervous .

+1. Massive chicken wing passenger pegs give good protection I'm told but are ugly. If you remove them then consider the axel sliders. Those sliders that let you use a DSS stand are handy, as I got sick of removing the sliders on my Hyper and left them off with a SSS stand. The Hyper has massive, ugly passenger peg/rear sets which help protection wise.

Those passenger pegs were also ruining my boots so I removed them for a gecko rearsets with passenger pegs. I forgot how they would serve to protect the rear. ... thanks for the reminder : )!
