Good afternoon all knowledgeable duc-ster "mechanicas":

I have a s2r 1k 07 monster that I'm thinking of resurrecting for as long time as a winter project; low 3000 miles and ... looks like the engine should run (fingers crossed); and of course I have the title docs. I'm in need of some suggestions / ideas / good parts leads. ... (broken case mounts and slight twist in frame [thumbsdown], don't like thinking of what happened to the rider :o; I hope he's recuperated)

I was thinking I might be able to find a quality pipe bender / welder that might fix as necessary; or find a compatible used frame from another bike.  I'd like to bring it back as to an original Monster.

Anyone know what frames are compatible with 1k monster engine mounts / takes etc into what frame without modifying drastically? Anyone have one for sale?

Obviously need a bunch of parts; does anyone have a1k s2r parts bike? what I need for sure is a seat, maybe a compatible frame (if its cheaper to get a frame instead to fix bent one), maybe lower 1k engine cases (if I cant find an manganese / aluminum welder to fix mounts); rear wheel ... other parts as needed.  [popcorn]

Cheers  [Dolph]

Depends on what you consider drastic, but anything '02 to your version in a 2 valver should work. They're all the ST version frame.

ya that's what I was thinking any 02 to 08??? 620's 750's 800's 1000 all the same?; but it would have to be a 1k frame to a 1k engine eh?  (what about the older 900 frames?) I should take some mount measurements .... then engine is buried in a box (Its heavy (200lbs?) and buried) I guess I could do slight mod mounts since I have to re-weld the eng case mounts any-who; I guess its how much work to mod looking at the price benefit analysis; I do see a local 750 01 parts bike ... and that's about 60 hp to 95 hp in the 1k ...

As long as you're going 2V to 2V...I don't believe anything will kill the deal. You might be missing a tab, but an Adele clamp or two can fix that.

I believe the '01 750 will be the old style 851 frame.

If you need any exhaust parts, I've got a mint set of shotgun cans and the aluminum kick guards sitting in my attic from my 06 as well as other misc parts.

Are you going to use the S2R1k swingarm?

I'm assuming yours is damaged, or no?

Ah thanks yes I did a bit of a comparison; 800 vs bent 1K frame; the mount spacing seems to be the same;

mount widths - 207 mm (8-1/8")
mount lengths 317 mm (12-1/2")

I took everything apart 7 yrs ago ; I remember looking at it it looked ok but it was in amongst bent pcs so tough to say.

ha cool I did get a second set of cans but they weren't the 1k cans and were missing the O2 sensor insert on the header pipe.  Christmas is around the corner! ;D

If there are no kinks and the frame is only bent after the rear engine mount you should be able to save it.  My old '01 was hit in the back.  Rear kicked up about 3".  Straightened slowly with a pipe.  The new owner has been riding it for the last two years, no problem.  Want to be sure it's straight?  I hear these guys are great  http://www.gpframeandwheel.com/

Ha cool again; good info; I need to get a detailed look at that frame sitting on the dining room table with some straight edges; no dents in the tubing but I'm assuming twisting beyond the mounts at the moment.
