Trying to install Throttle Tamer on M750. Cable confusion?

Hey guys,

I'm trying to install a Tamer (40-4X-2STR) which is the model that's supposed to work for all Monsters 2000-2013. (I have a 2001 M750.)

When I went to install it, I found that I have two throttle cables, and the Tamer only has one hole that's slotted for a cable (the other holes on it are all solid/closed.)

This won't work, will it? Is this two-cable configuration standard for a '01 M750? (A lot that I've read led me to believe I'd only have one throttle cable.)

Here are some pics of what I'm looking at...

I appreciate any guidance on what to do here, if this Tamer will work, and if not, which one will...

Thanks!
Christina

That is for a fuel injected bike, which has only one cable.

All carby bikes have 2.

^ Yes, but I have seen this type of device in the Harley world (Keihin CV carb) and the instructions indicated to use the cable that "opens" the butrerly on the CV. The cable that "closes" the CV is not used.

Thank you both. All the install/fitment information says it works for Monsters '00-13... and the earlier ones were all carbed, correct?

So I'm assuming this will work for my bike, but to clarify your point, greenohawkâ€"is it okay to just not use/connect the cable that closes the throttle?

As long as the spring on the throttle plates closes them it should be OK.

What issue are you having that you need a throttle tamer?

Okay, thanks.

No "issue" per se, but I'm a newer rider and really liked the throttle on a friend's older Monster with one of these on it. (just made it a little less touchy, which I like when I'm riding in traffic.)

I'd first find out if you were shipped the wrong part - call the vendor and explain your situation. Mistakes do happen. I've seen it done. You can always try it and see if you like it.
