Previous owner had installed a presumably cheap Chinese integrated LED tail light.  The white license plate lights started flickering and now are completely out.  Was going to order a new tail light but in the mean time wanted to wire on just a cheap adhesive LED strip to keep me legal.

Under the tail I have this:

The separated yellow-to-white, black-to-black, and red/white-to-red wires at the top control the running light, brake switch, and ground for the tail-light itself.  At the bottom I have a black/white-to-black/white+blue for the left turn signal, and a green/white-to-black/white+green for the right turn signal, in addition to their respective grounds.

But I also have, pictured at the left, a yellow with it's black ground.  It comes out of the same loom that the turn signals do, and it doesn't seem to have a home.  Testing it with a turn signal it seems to supply constant power while the ignition is on.

Is this for anything in particular?  I was going to simply use this to power the license plate light.  I'm wondering if it would be for the factory license plate light which has since been omitted for the LED tail-light.

Awesome.  That's simple enough then.

Appreciate the help.
