I had cash in my pocket, all intensions to buy another m900 (4th Monster over the years) but have always had a superbike in the back of my mind. Ive always thought the 916/748/996.998 were the best looking bikes ever!  I looked at a yellow 748 with 10,000 miles, full Termi exhaust with ECU, plenty of carbon fiber, updated rockers, paperwork for services, stock exhaust cans, rear paddock stand, and in really good shape. (crack on fairing at right mirror, and a couple small scuffs here and there but 99% of the bike is gorgeous.  rode the bike home and though "wow that was uncomfortable" buts its a new to me bike, so maybe it will get better.  I knew going in its no monster for comfort but again I just wanted a superbike for sooooo long. Well after a few more rides I have realized I'm a monster guy, superbikes are nice to look at, nice to own, but they are not for me! Ive decided as soon as the title arrives she has to go

If you ride the track, keep it for that.

They get way more comfy at speed. [thumbsup]

You gotta do what you think is best but if it is any consequence that thing is sexy.

I have never tracked a bike, and this would be way over my 20 year motorcycle experience! I have thought of a Ninja 250 for a track bike. this is the sexiest style bike ever but for the very very limited riding I can do the cost of service would suck!!! if I keep it may be time to buy a service manual and learn!!!

this is my old 95 Monster 900. engine totally built by Fast by Ferracci, full FBF exhaust, 8000 miles, and absoulty perfect...this is what I really should  have looked for over the 748. maybe with some more seat time things will change but damn this 748 is aggressive![img]http://this is my old 95 Monster 900. engine totally built by Fast by Ferracci, full FBF exhaust, 8000 miles, and absoulty perfect...this is what I really should  have looked for over the 748. maybe with some more seat time things will change but damn this 748 is aggressive!

As a former Monster guy who now owns a Titanium colored '02 748S, I feel your pain w/regard to the riding position.  I have some alternate clip-ons coming in the mail next week so hopefully that helps with my comfort.

As the road gets twisty though, I really really like the 748 chassis.  Way more confidence inspiring than the Monsters were.*

(*: I haven't ridden a 696/1100 Monster enough to gauge their chassis' qualities nor have I ever rode an M821/1200)

Ride what suits you man.  [thumbsup]

As I've rode it more it's really growing in me!  I've figured out the clutch and the handling is insane!  Maybe I should of gave her a couple days before I decided!

I cannot believe how quickly I have learned this bike (nothing faster than 55!)  its still uncomfortable, and my neck hurts after a ride but im sure as my neck gets used to it that will go away   Im also sure once I pay 4v service I wont be happy either...but I FINNALY own a Superbike!  still want another red 95 M900 though!
