FP1 sucked. The track was damp, but not fully wet.

The highlight of FP1 was Jackass messing up the new chicane until he was black flagged.

That revised chicane is causing a lot of mayhem.
Several riders losing it in the left, and the bikes end up in the middle of the track on the right.
End of FP2, Baz's bike almost took out 3 guys.

Ducatis looking pretty flash, hope they can hold the pace.

A couple of lap times cancelled from dubious conclusions, Marquez and Vinales losing out after going at speed through the chicane just after Baz went down.
They were already past the marshall stations before the yellow flags came out, so that's not valid.

Pic shows Baz sitting at the apex of 15, his bike just to the right, narrowly missing a torpedo job on one of the Aprilias.

Yellow flags are just now coming out, with Vinales and Marquez entering T14.
This is the first moment that their view would be looking abnormal, frankly I think they did a good job not hitting his bike.

They've reverted to last year's chicane layout:

So Jacko's got a bit of a head start on the field!  laughingdp

Pedro on pole
2nd Lorenzo
3rd Monkey
MM had a rough day crashing four times today, but out qualified his championship rivals who struggled. A gutsy effort. One bike was unusable and the other needed repairs.
A real crashfest all over for many riders this weekend.

Two Ducatis on the front row, and 5 of the top 10!

Bumpy and greasy, just the way the Yamahas like it!  laughingdp
Factory Yamahas will be in damage limitation mode.
Rossi's front tire shown at the start of Q1 was ridonkulous.

Aleix getting a lot out of that Ape.

Yeah that tyre was chewed to pieces like a thrashed rear. I've never seen a front like that.

I seem to remember issues in PI a few years ago with tires being destroyed.

I remember the LHS of rear tyres being wrecked at the Island, but that front being chewed is amazing.

From MM's comments it seems the front tyre loses too much stability in the heat. It seems those who are harder on the front are stressing it beyond it's limits.

Dovi again! What a late bloomer!
MM rode a great character race after a torrid weekend for 20 valuable points. Five crashes this weekend and gutted it out for second.
Pedro 3rd.
