Just thought that I would share a little tip that was given to me by the manufacturers of nichols flywheels. A tech passed on this tip.The Pro Motion gear jammer part# 080427.This is locked in place between the crank and timing gears respectfully before the thrust washer, shim, roller bearing, coller, gear, flywheel and rotor assemly is put in place. let the lanyard that is attached to the tool hang free down by the starter gear, install flywheel/ rotor assembly. Now torque down. When torque is acheived, simply turn rotor in the opposite direction a smidge  to unload gears from tool, ,than simply yank on the tool lanyard and bingo, tool re appears from behind flywheel /rotor assembly. I tried it today works amazingly.

I had to look up what the tool looked like.  Seems better than jamming a coin in the gears.  I don't recall what I did for my M695.  For my 749s I rented the stout factory holder tool that bolts to the engine case and avoids stress to the shaft.  I trust the Nichols guys.
